About the Role

As a Remote Fire Engineer at Apex Fire Solutions, you will own the full lifecycle of fire protection design for commercial, institutional, and high‑rise projects. You’ll collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and code officials through virtual design reviews, ensuring every system meets NFPA, IBC, and local jurisdiction requirements. This position offers autonomy to manage multiple projects simultaneously while leveraging our cloud‑based BIM platform for seamless coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop fire sprinkler, alarm, smoke control, and suppression system designs from concept through construction documents.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, egress analyses, and performance‑based design evaluations using industry‑standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD, PyroSim).
• Prepare and submit permit packages, respond to plan review comments, and coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) remotely.
• Conduct peer reviews and quality‑assurance checks on deliverables produced by junior engineers and drafters.
• Participate in interdisciplinary coordination meetings, presenting fire protection strategies to project stakeholders via video conference.
• Stay current on evolving codes, standards, and emerging technologies such as water mist, clean agent, and IoT‑enabled detection systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state; multi‑state licensure is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience designing fire protection systems for commercial or high‑rise projects.
• Proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and hydraulic calculation tools; experience with Navisworks or BIM 360 for clash detection.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration and client presentations.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or NICET Level III/IV in Fire Alarm or Sprinkler Design.

Salary Range
