About the Role

As a Remote Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive counseling services to individuals struggling with addiction and substance use disorders. You will conduct assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions via secure telehealth platforms. This position allows you to reach clients across multiple states, breaking down barriers to care and expanding your impact beyond traditional office-based settings.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of clients’ substance use patterns and mental health status
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care
• Facilitate individual counseling sessions weekly to address client goals and challenges
• Lead virtual group therapy sessions covering topics like relapse prevention, stress management, and communication skills
• Maintain detailed clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and state licensing requirements
• Collaborate with external healthcare providers and community resources to ensure comprehensive client care
• Participate in weekly team meetings and case consultations to refine treatment approaches

Requirements

Education & Certification

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related behavioral health field
• Current licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent state credential
• Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor (CADC) or equivalent certification preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with substance use disorders

Technical & Skills Requirements

• Proficiency with telehealth platforms and electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload
• Excellent active listening and empathy skills
