AeroForm Engineering Group is hiring a Remote Mechanical Designer to create precise 3D models, detailed drawings, and production-ready design solutions from home. This fully remote mechanical design role is ideal for detail-oriented CAD professionals who enjoy turning concepts into reliable, manufacturable products.

Salary Range

Estimated Salary: $55,000 – $78,000 USD per year, depending on experience, technical skill level, portfolio quality, and familiarity with advanced CAD workflows.

About the Role

AeroForm Engineering Group is looking for a skilled Remote Mechanical Designer to support product development, mechanical systems design, and technical documentation for industrial, consumer, and equipment-based projects. In this 100% remote position, you will collaborate with engineers, product managers, manufacturers, and cross-functional teams to develop clean, accurate, and manufacturable mechanical designs.

This is a hands-on design role for someone who enjoys solving real-world engineering challenges, improving product performance, and creating high-quality technical deliverables from a home office environment. The ideal candidate is confident using CAD tools, understands mechanical design principles, and can work independently while communicating clearly with a distributed team.

What You’ll Do

  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, layouts, and mechanical drawings for new and existing products.
  • Develop production-ready CAD files, Bills of Materials, and technical documentation for manufacturing teams.
  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, design standards, and manufacturability best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineers to refine product concepts, improve mechanical functionality, and reduce design risk.
  • Review designs for fit, form, function, material selection, assembly requirements, and cost-effective production.
  • Support prototype development, design revisions, and technical problem-solving during product launches.
  • Maintain organized design files, revision history, and project documentation in a remote collaboration environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, CAD drafting, product design, or a related technical role.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo, Fusion 360, or similar CAD platforms.
  • Ability to create accurate 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, material selection, fasteners, sheet metal, plastics, or machined components.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple design tasks in a remote setting.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for virtual meetings, design reviews, and project updates.
  • Reliable home office setup with high-speed internet and professional CAD workstation capabilities.
  • Portfolio or work samples demonstrating mechanical design quality, modeling accuracy, and practical engineering judgment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with product development from concept through manufacturing release.
  • Familiarity with FEA, design validation, prototyping, or manufacturing process planning.
  • Background in industrial equipment, consumer products, automation, packaging machinery, or electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience working with offshore manufacturers, vendors, or production teams.
  • Knowledge of PLM, PDM, ERP, or version-control systems.

Benefits

  • 100% remote work-from-home flexibility with no daily commute.
  • Competitive salary based on experience and technical ability.
  • Opportunity to work on diverse mechanical design projects across multiple industries.
  • Collaborative remote team culture with regular design reviews and project feedback.
  • Professional growth through exposure to advanced CAD workflows, product development, and manufacturing processes.
  • Flexible scheduling where project deadlines and team coordination allow.

Work Environment

This Remote Mechanical Designer position is fully home-based and designed for professionals who can manage time effectively, communicate proactively, and deliver high-quality design work without direct in-office supervision. You will use video calls, project management tools, shared CAD libraries, and digital review systems to stay connected with the team.

AeroForm Engineering Group values practical design thinking, clean documentation, and dependable collaboration. If you enjoy creating precise mechanical solutions and want a remote role that supports both creativity and technical excellence, this opportunity is a strong fit.
