About the Role

Our client is a nationally recognized fire protection engineering firm serving commercial, industrial, and residential projects. The Remote Fire Engineer will support project delivery from concept through construction, ensuring designs meet NFPA, IBC, and local jurisdictional requirements. You’ll leverage advanced modeling tools, prepare detailed reports, and liaise with architects, contractors, and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) via virtual meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection system layouts (sprinkler, standpipe, fire alarm, smoke control) using AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation software.
• Perform fire hazard analyses, egress modeling, and performance‑based design assessments.
• Prepare code compliance reports, design calculations, and submission packages for permit review.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams via video conferencing and cloud‑based collaboration platforms.
• Provide technical support during construction, including RFI responses and field issue resolution.
• Stay current with evolving fire protection standards and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or eligibility to obtain within 2 years.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in fire protection system design for commercial or industrial projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation programs (e.g., HASS, Elite Fire).
• Strong understanding of NFPA 13, NFPA 72, NFPA 101, IBC, and local fire codes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications
