Join a dynamic, fully remote engineering team where your expertise in electrical design drives innovative solutions for renewable energy, industrial automation, and smart infrastructure. Work from the comfort of your home while collaborating with top‑tier engineers across the globe on projects that make a tangible impact.

We’re looking for a detail‑oriented Electrical Designer who thrives in a flexible environment, possesses strong CAD skills, and is eager to contribute to cutting‑edge projects without the constraints of a traditional office.

About the Role

As a Remote Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans for a variety of client projects. You’ll work closely with project managers, field engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet industry standards, client specifications, and budgetary constraints. This role offers the autonomy to manage your own schedule while delivering high‑quality work on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop single‑line diagrams, panel layouts, and cable schedules using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools.
  • Perform load calculations, short‑circuit analyses, and voltage drop studies to ensure design compliance.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical designs into mechanical and civil layouts.
  • Review vendor submittals, request for information (RFIs), and shop drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain design documentation, revision control, and project files in a centralized cloud‑based repository.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing technical feedback and suggesting improvements for efficiency and safety.
  • Stay current with NEC, IEC, IEEE, and other relevant codes and standards.

Requirements

Must‑Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience as an Electrical Designer or similar role.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (or EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution, control systems, and lighting design principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a remote work setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, wind) or industrial automation projects.
  • Familiarity with Revit MEP or BIM coordination workflows.
  • Professional Engineer (EIT/PE) certification or progress toward licensure.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and HMI design.
  • Experience performing arc‑flash studies or protective device coordination.
  • Exposure to project management software such as MS Project, Asana, or Trello.

Benefits

  • Fully remote position – work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection.
  • Flexible hours with core collaboration windows to accommodate different time zones.
  • Competitive salary package (see below).
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance options.
  • 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Paid time off, holidays, and parental leave.
  • Annual stipend for home office setup and ergonomic equipment.
  • Opportunities for professional development, certifications, and conference attendance.
  • Collaborative culture with regular virtual team‑building events and technical workshops.

Salary Range

Based on industry standards for remote Electrical Designers in the United States, the expected compensation for this role is $68,000 – $95,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, certifications, and the complexity of projects assigned.
