Job Summary
GovCIO is seeking a skilled SME System Administrator to support mission‑critical applications for the U.S. Coast Guard. This fully remote role is based in Washington, D.C., US, with a salary of $92,004.79.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, high‑availability systems that enable Coast Guard operations.
- Implement and enforce the Software Lifecycle Management Plan (SLMP) to ensure rapid delivery of functional applications and automated workflows.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting, performance tuning, and incident response for Windows and Linux environments.
- Collaborate with developers, network engineers, and security teams to integrate new services and enhancements.
- Maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and change‑control records.
- Conduct regular system health checks, patch management, and compliance audits.
- Mentor junior administrators and contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of system administration experience in a federal or defense contracting environment.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V).
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Bash.
- Understanding of security frameworks (NIST, DISA STIG) and ability to apply hardening guidelines.
- Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Coast Guard or other maritime agency systems.
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Security+, or similar.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
