Job Summary

Walgreens is seeking a reliable Shift Lead to manage daily store operations in Chicago, Cook County. This role is responsible for opening and closing the store, handling cash, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Open and close the store in the absence of store management, including system start‑ups and cash handling procedures.
• Ensure the sales floor and stockroom are prepared for the business day, maintaining cleanliness and organization.
• Receive deliveries by opening the back door, verify merchandise, and stock shelves efficiently.
• Process product returns, order voids, customer refunds, and perform cash drops to the safe.
• Provide accurate change to cash registers and assist teammates with register duties as needed.
• Model and deliver a distinctive, delightful customer experience by engaging shoppers, answering questions, and resolving issues promptly.
• Train and mentor team members on store policies, POS systems, and loss‑prevention techniques.
• Monitor inventory levels, conduct cycle counts, and report discrepancies to management.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, and security standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional retail or management training is a plus.
• Previous experience in a retail or pharmacy setting, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Strong cash handling skills with a proven record of accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and capable of multitasking in a fast‑paced environment.
