Job Summary
Ochsner Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on the night shift in New Orleans, Orleans Parish. This full‑time position offers a competitive annual salary of $104,424.75.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill newborns and their families during night hours.
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and operate specialized NICU equipment.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record.
- Educate parents on newborn care, discharge planning, and ongoing health needs.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, including code events and rapid response situations.
- Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives and adhere to Ochsner’s safety and infection control standards.
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of Louisiana.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate’s degree acceptable with relevant experience.
- Minimum of 1‑2 years NICU experience or neonatal intensive care certification.
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Strong critical‑thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining high standards of patient safety.
