Job Summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a full‑time PRN Respiratory Therapist at St. Bernard Parish Hospital in Chalmette, Saint Bernard Parish. This role offers a competitive annual salary of $53,319.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct respiratory care to patients of all ages in acute, critical care, and emergency settings.
• Perform assessments, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and adjust therapies based on patient response.
• Operate and maintain ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, nebulizers, and other respiratory equipment.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, inhaler techniques, and home care plans.
• Document all interventions accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) and adhere to hospital policies and state regulations.
• Participate in code response, rapid response, and emergency drills as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license (or eligibility for licensure).
• Certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) – Preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
• Strong communication, critical‑thinking, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible PRN shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
