Respiratory Therapist – PRN

Job Summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a part‑time Respiratory Therapist (PRN) to provide high‑quality respiratory care in Slidell, Saint Tammany Parish, LA.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate respiratory therapy for patients across inpatient units, emergency department and intensive care.
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, mechanical ventilation and non‑invasive ventilation according to physician orders.
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling, pulmonary function testing, and chest physiotherapy.
• Educate patients and families on breathing techniques, equipment use and disease management.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Participate in quality improvement projects, staff education and on‑call coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Louisiana.
• Certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) – preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in acute care or critical care setting.
• Strong communication, critical‑thinking and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible PRN schedules, including evenings, nights and weekends.
