About This Position
Job Summary
Ochsner Health System is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist Float Team – Night to join our Lafayette, Lafayette Parish campus. This full‑time night shift role provides critical respiratory care across multiple units, ensuring high‑quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy services to patients on the night shift, including assessments, treatments, and emergency interventions.
- Float between intensive care, step‑down, and medical‑surgical units as needed, adapting quickly to diverse clinical environments.
- Operate and maintain ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, nebulizers, and other respiratory equipment.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies, equipment use, and home care instructions.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record.
- Participate in code response and provide rapid airway management during emergencies.
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives and compliance with Ochsner’s safety standards.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in Louisiana.
- Minimum of 1‑2 years of clinical experience in acute care, preferably with night‑shift exposure.
- Certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.
- Strong critical‑thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work flexible night hours and float across multiple units.
Compensation & Benefits
