Network Security Engineer

Synergy ECP is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join its Annapolis Junction, Anne Arundel County team. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructures for U.S. intelligence and defense clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security appliances.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analysis.
• Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Monitor network traffic for threats and respond to incidents in real time.
• Collaborate with software and systems engineering teams to integrate security controls into mission‑critical solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in network security engineering, preferably supporting government or defense agencies.
• Hands‑on expertise with Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, VLANs, and cloud networking (AWS/Azure).
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, or GICSP.
• Clearance eligibility and ability to obtain a Top‑Secret clearance.
