About This Position
Actalent is hiring an Electrical and Instrumentation Designer in Pluckemin, Somerset County, US. This role focuses on designing low‑ and medium‑voltage electrical systems for complex process plant projects, delivering high‑quality 2D CAD models.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 2D CAD designs for low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution, control, and instrumentation systems.
- Produce wiring diagrams, panel layouts, conduit schedules, and equipment specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate electrical designs with mechanical, civil, and process disciplines.
- Perform load calculations, short‑circuit analysis, and coordination studies to ensure compliance with NEC, IEC, and client standards.
- Review and incorporate vendor data, catalog information, and supplier drawings.
- Support construction phases by generating shop drawings, as‑built documentation, and responding to field queries.
- Maintain design documentation in project management tools and ensure version control.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation design for process, petrochemical, or industrial facilities.
- Proficiency with 2D CAD software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or MicroStation) and familiarity with 3D modeling tools is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, IEC, and industry‑specific standards (e.g., ISA, API).
- Experience with load flow, short‑circuit, and coordination studies using tools such as ETAP or SKM PowerTools.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
