Coder II, Professional

SSM Health is seeking a remote Coder II, Professional to join its team from Saint Louis, Saint Louis County. This full‑time role focuses on accurate medical coding and abstracting to support billing and reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities

• Review patient charts, physician documentation, and ancillary reports to assign appropriate ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Abstract clinical data for quality reporting, case management, and research purposes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer coding guidelines and regulations.
• Identify and resolve coding discrepancies, providing feedback to clinical staff.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of coding updates, payer policies, and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of professional medical coding experience.
• Current Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential.
• Proficiency with coding software, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
