About This Position
Stantec is seeking an experienced Archaeologist to join its multidisciplinary team in Whitehorse, Yukon. This role supports critical cultural heritage projects for clients and local communities while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and ethics.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys, excavations, and artifact analysis in accordance with Canadian heritage regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports, site documentation, and heritage impact assessments for government and private stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineers, environmental scientists, and Indigenous partners to integrate archaeological findings into project designs.
- Provide expert advice on cultural resource management, mitigation strategies, and compliance requirements.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives within Stantec’s global network of technical specialists.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience conducting archaeological fieldwork in Canada.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Heritage Act, Yukon Heritage Resources, and related permitting processes.
- Proficiency in GIS, database management, and industry‑standard software (e.g., ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
