About This Position
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant role at CHCI is based in Washington, DC and offers a hybrid work schedule (2 days onsite per week). You will support core accounting functions, manage AR/AP, and assist with month‑end close.
Key Responsibilities
- Process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments in the accounts payable system.
- Record and reconcile customer payments, manage accounts receivable, and follow up on overdue balances.
- Assist the Accounting Manager with monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and review financial reports, balance sheets, and profit‑and‑loss statements for accuracy.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Identify process improvements to increase efficiency in the accounting workflow.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1‑3 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Detail‑oriented with a commitment to accuracy and deadlines.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $70,000 – $75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
