Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel and natural‑gas generators ranging from 10 kW to 2 MW.
- Travel 100–200 miles daily within the assigned Central Virginia territory, using a company‑provided service vehicle that can be started and stopped from home.
- Respond to emergency service calls, typically providing overtime of up to 10 hours per week.
- Document all service activities in the company’s field service software, ensuring accurate logs, parts usage, and time tracking.
- Collaborate with the dispatch team to prioritize work orders and maintain optimal route efficiency.
- Maintain safety compliance by following OSHA standards, wearing required PPE, and conducting pre‑job safety assessments.
- Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and assist in training new hires.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification (e.g., EPA 608, ASE, or similar) preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience servicing generators, engines, or related power equipment.
- Valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to pass a background check.
- Strong diagnostic skills, ability to read schematics, and proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
