About the Role

As a Remote Water Resources Engineer, you will support the planning and execution of water-related projects, including stormwater management, watershed restoration, and irrigation system design. You will utilize industry-standard software such as HEC‑RAS, SWMM, and ArcGIS to develop models, prepare technical reports, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Collaboration with clients, regulators, and field teams will be conducted via virtual meetings and cloud‑based platforms, allowing you to maintain a flexible work‑life balance while delivering high‑quality engineering outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop hydraulic and hydrologic models to assess flood risk, water availability, and system performance.
• Prepare detailed design calculations, specifications, and cost estimates for water infrastructure projects.
• Conduct field data analysis and integrate remote sensing information into project workflows.
• Assist in the preparation of permit applications and ensure adherence to EPA, USACE, and state water quality standards.
• Participate in client presentations and stakeholder workshops via video conferencing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering; a Master’s or PE license is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in water resources engineering, including hydraulic modeling and stormwater design.
• Proficiency with HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, SWMM, EPANET, and GIS platforms (ArcGIS/QGIS).
• Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, and regulatory frameworks (Clean Water Act, NEPA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Self‑motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
• U.S. work authorization; must be eligible to work remotely from California.
