We are seeking a passionate Water Resources Engineer to design sustainable water management solutions from anywhere in the United States. In this fully remote role, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to protect watersheds, optimize stormwater systems, and drive climate‑resilient infrastructure projects.

About the Role

As a Remote Water Resources Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, preparing detailed engineering reports, and supporting the planning and design of water-related projects. You will work closely with clients, regulators, and field teams to ensure that all designs meet environmental standards, budget constraints, and project timelines. This position offers the flexibility to work from home while contributing to high‑impact initiatives that safeguard water resources across the country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hydraulic modeling (HEC‑RAS, SWMM, EPANET) and hydrologic analysis for stormwater, floodplain, and watershed projects.
  • Develop engineering designs for stormwater management, low‑impact development (LID), and water reuse systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and construction documents in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil engineers, environmental scientists, and GIS specialists.
  • Conduct site visits (when required) to gather data, verify conditions, and support construction oversight.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, best practices, and regulatory changes in water resources engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering; PE licensure preferred or eligibility to obtain.
  • 3+ years of experience in hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, stormwater design, or watershed management.
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard software such as HEC‑RAS, SWMM, EPANET, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS).
  • Strong understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations, NPDES permits, and state water quality standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects independently in a remote setting.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $78,000 – $95,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • 401(k) with company matching and retirement planning resources.
  • Generous paid time off, holidays, and flexible work hours.
  • Professional development stipend for certifications, conferences, and continuing education.
  • Remote work equipment allowance (home office setup, high‑speed internet stipend).
  • Wellness programs, including mental health resources and virtual fitness classes.
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful projects that improve community resilience and protect natural water resources.
