The Surveyor role has evolved significantly in the last decade. While traditional fieldwork remains essential, the core of the job now often revolves around data interpretation, software management, and client interaction—tasks that translate perfectly to a home office environment. In this fully remote position, you will serve as the project lead for multiple surveying engagements, ensuring that data collected in the field is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time. You won’t just be crunching numbers; you’ll be the expert voice that guides our field teams and advises our clients on boundary lines, elevation data, and land development plans.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Review

Your primary duty is to review raw survey data collected by field technicians using GPS and total station instruments. You will verify mathematical closures, check for accuracies, and ensure the data meets the specific standards required for legal and engineering documents. This involves a high level of attention to detail and a deep understanding of geospatial concepts.

Deliverable Creation

Using advanced software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and Carlson Survey, you will transform raw data into actionable deliverables. This includes producing plats, legal descriptions, site plans, and elevation models. You are responsible for ensuring these documents are error-free and ready for client review or submission to government agencies.

Client & Team Coordination

Communication is key in a remote setting. You will interface directly with clients via video conferencing to explain complex technical findings, discuss boundary disputes, and coordinate project timelines. You will also manage schedules for field crews operating across different locations, ensuring everyone is aligned on project goals and deadlines.

Requirements

Experience & Education

We require a minimum of three years of professional surveying experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field is strongly preferred. You must hold a valid Surveyor’s License (PE or LS) to ensure compliance with local regulations.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard CAD platforms is mandatory. You should be comfortable navigating complex databases and geospatial information systems (GIS). Experience with drone surveying data or LiDAR processing is a significant plus.

Soft Skills

Since you are working remotely, you need the discipline to manage your own time effectively. You must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to bridge the gap between technical data and non-technical stakeholders. You should be a problem-solver who can troubleshoot issues without direct supervision.
