Salary Range

$48,000 – $72,000 USD/year, depending on experience, licensure level, and weekly case load. Top-performing counselors may qualify for quarterly bonuses and per-session incentives that can push total compensation above $80,000.

About the Role

As a Remote Substance Abuse Counselor with Meridian Recovery Network, you will deliver one-on-one and small-group therapy sessions via our secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform to individuals navigating alcohol, opioid, stimulant, and poly-substance dependencies. You will build personalized recovery plans, conduct motivational-interview sessions, and coordinate care with psychiatrists, case managers, and family support networks—all from the comfort of your own home office.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Conduct 45-minute individual and group counseling sessions over encrypted video calls
• Assess and track client progress using evidence-based frameworks including CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing
• Maintain thorough, timely documentation within our integrated EHR system
• Collaborate weekly with a multidisciplinary care team to adjust treatment plans
• Refer clients to inpatient facilities, intensive outpatient programs, or peer-support groups when clinically indicated
• Participate in bi-weekly peer-supervision circles and monthly clinical training webinars

Requirements

Must-Have

• Active, unrestricted state licensure as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent addiction-treatment credential
• Minimum two years of direct clinical experience in substance-abuse or dual-diagnosis treatment
• Proficiency with telehealth platforms, remote scheduling tools, and digital documentation
• Valid professional liability or malpractice insurance (company-sponsored enrollment available)
• A quiet, private, and well-lit workspace suitable for confidential client sessions

Strongly Preferred

• ASAM, IAT, or NBCC certification in addiction counseling
• Clinical experience with adolescent, veteran, or justice-involved populations
• Training in trauma-informed care, harm-reduction strategies, or MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) coordination

What to Expect in Your First 90 Days

Weeks one through two focus on onboarding, EHR training, and shadowing senior counselors on live sessions. By week six, you will be managing a full caseload of 15–20 clients with dedicated supervision. By day 90, you will have completed your first performance review and be eligible for the full incentive structure.
