About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to provide virtual therapy and support to clients battling substance use disorders. In this fully remote position, you will conduct intake assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver ongoing counseling sessions via secure video platforms. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, case managers, and peer support specialists to ensure comprehensive care that promotes long‑term sobriety and wellness.

Key Responsibilities

Client Assessment & Treatment Planning

Perform thorough biopsychosocial assessments to identify substance use patterns, co‑occurring mental health conditions, and personal recovery goals. Create personalized treatment plans that align with evidence‑based protocols such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and relapse prevention.

Virtual Counseling Sessions

Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions through HIPAA‑compliant video conferencing tools. Maintain a supportive, non‑judgmental environment that encourages open dialogue and active client participation.

Progress Monitoring & Documentation

Track client progress through regular outcome measurements, adjust treatment strategies as needed, and maintain accurate, confidential electronic health records in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

Professional Credentials

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or equivalent credential in the state of residence. Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) or similar certification is highly preferred.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience providing substance abuse counseling, preferably in a telehealth or remote setting. Demonstrated ability to engage diverse client populations and manage caseloads effectively.

Technical Proficiency
