Are you driven by a passion for helping others overcome addiction and reclaim their lives? We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our fully remote team, offering compassionate support to clients nationwide from the comfort of your own living room. This is a rare opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with the flexibility of a work-from-home lifestyle.

Salary Range

$48,000 – $65,000 USD/year

About the Role

In this fully remote position, you will serve as the primary point of contact for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Your mission is to assess client needs, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide consistent therapeutic interventions. You will conduct virtual sessions, manage caseloads with integrity, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on empathy, critical thinking, and the ability to build trust quickly in a digital environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments via video and phone to determine the level of care required.
  • Design and implement individualized counseling strategies aligned with evidence-based practices such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and 12-Step facilitation.
  • Lead group therapy sessions remotely, fostering a safe space for peer support and accountability.
  • Monitor client progress through regular check-ins and adjust treatment plans as needed to prevent relapse.
  • Document all clinical interactions accurately in our electronic health records system to maintain compliance with HIPAA and state regulations.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, social workers, and family members to create a seamless support network for the client.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who brings both clinical competence and genuine warmth to this virtual setting. You must hold a valid license or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor, LMHC, LPC, or equivalent in your state of residence. Prior experience in addiction recovery is preferred, though new graduates with a strong internship background are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in telehealth platforms and a quiet, private workspace are essential.

What We Are Looking For

  • A Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Active licensure in your state of residence (e.g., CAC, LADC, LPC).
  • At least 1-3 years of hands-on experience working with individuals facing alcoholism, opioid use disorder, or polysubstance dependence.
  • Strong communication skills that translate effectively through a screen.
  • A commitment to cultural competence and trauma-informed care.

Benefits

We believe that your well-being is the foundation of your best work. As a fully remote Substance Abuse Counselor, you will enjoy a package designed to support both your professional growth and personal life.

What’s in it for You

  • Full Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere in the US without the hassle of commuting or office politics.
  • Generous PTO: Take the time you need to recharge with a comprehensive paid time off policy.
  • Health & Wellness: Access to comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus a wellness stipend for home office setup.
  • Professional Development: Annual budget for continuing education credits and advanced training workshops.
  • Competitive Pay: A salary that reflects your expertise and is benchmarked against industry standards.

Why This Job Matters

Addiction doesn’t take a day off, and neither should access to care. By joining our remote team, you are removing barriers for clients who might otherwise struggle to find a qualified counselor. You will be part of a mission-driven organization that prioritizes outcomes over bureaucracy. If you are ready to use your skills to guide someone through their darkest chapter and into a brighter future, we want to hear from you.
