About the Role

As a Remote Substance Abuse Counselor, you will provide confidential, client-centered counseling services to individuals navigating substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and recovery challenges. You will work with clients virtually using secure telehealth platforms while collaborating with care teams, families, and community resources to support long-term wellness and sustainable recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group telehealth counseling sessions for clients experiencing substance use and behavioral health concerns.
  • Perform clinical assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and track client progress toward recovery goals.
  • Use evidence-based approaches such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care.
  • Provide crisis support, coping strategies, harm reduction education, and referrals when additional services are needed.

Requirements

  • Active license or certification in substance abuse counseling, addiction counseling, mental health counseling, social work, psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, community counseling, or a related setting.
  • Knowledge of addiction recovery models, relapse prevention, co-occurring disorders, and evidence-based counseling practices.
  • Strong telehealth communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport in a virtual environment.
  • Comfortable using secure video platforms, electronic health records, and digital documentation tools.
  • Ability to work independently from a quiet, private, and distraction-free home office.
