Join a forward‑thinking engineering team that builds resilient, sustainable structures while you work from the comfort of your home office. We offer competitive pay, flexible schedules, and the autonomy to lead high‑impact projects across the country.

About the Role

As a Remote Structural Engineer, you will collaborate with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineers to develop safe, code‑compliant designs for commercial, institutional, and infrastructure projects. You will own the structural analysis, detailing, and quality‑control processes from concept through construction administration, all while leveraging cloud‑based collaboration tools that keep the team aligned across time zones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform linear and nonlinear structural analysis using industry‑standard software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, RISA‑3D).
  • Prepare and review construction documents, calculations, and specifications for steel, concrete, timber, and composite systems.
  • Coordinate with BIM managers to integrate structural models into a federated Revit environment.
  • Conduct peer reviews and mentor junior engineers on best practices and code interpretation (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC).
  • Support construction phase services: RFIs, submittal reviews, site observations (virtual or occasional travel).
  • Stay current with emerging materials, sustainability certifications (LEED, Envision), and resilience design methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program; Master’s preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state (or ability to obtain via comity within 6 months).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive structural design experience on commercial or institutional projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least two analysis packages and Revit Structure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines in a distributed team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with performance‑based design and seismic retrofitting.
  • Familiarity with parametric design tools (Dynamo, Grasshopper) for structural optimization.
  • LEED Green Associate or Envision Sustainability Professional credential.
  • Prior remote‑work experience with Agile/Scrum project tracking (Jira, Asana).

Salary Range

$85,000 – $115,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, licensure, and geographic cost‑of‑living adjustments.

Benefits

  • 100% remote work with a $1,200 annual home‑office stipend.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans (company pays 90% of premiums).
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match, immediate vesting.
  • Generous PTO: 15 days vacation, 10 holidays, plus 5 “wellness” days.
  • Continuing education budget of $2,500 per year for courses, conferences, and license renewals.
  • Professional liability insurance covered by the firm.
  • Quarterly virtual team‑building events and an annual in‑person retreat (travel paid).

Company Culture

Our firm believes that engineering excellence thrives on diversity, transparency, and continuous learning. We operate on a results‑only work environment (ROWE) — you set your schedule, we measure outcomes. Weekly stand‑ups, monthly technical deep‑dives, and an open‑door Slack culture keep everyone connected without micromanagement. We are committed to sustainable design, community impact, and fostering the next generation of structural leaders.
