Join Apex Engineering Group as a fully remote Structural Engineer and lead innovative projects that shape resilient, eco‑friendly buildings across the nation. This role offers the freedom to work from anywhere in the United States while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team committed to engineering excellence.

About the Role

As a Remote Structural Engineer at Apex Engineering Group, you will own the structural design lifecycle for commercial, institutional, and mixed‑use projects. You will translate architectural concepts into safe, code‑compliant frameworks, perform advanced analysis using industry‑standard software, and coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and construction managers to deliver projects on schedule and within budget. The position emphasizes sustainable design practices, including seismic resilience, mass‑timber integration, and low‑carbon material selection.

Key Responsibilities

Structural Design & Analysis

Develop detailed structural calculations, 3D models, and construction documents for steel, concrete, timber, and composite systems. Utilize tools such as ETABS, SAP2000, Revit Structure, and RAM Structural System to optimize performance and verify compliance with ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and local building codes.

Project Coordination

Lead virtual design coordination meetings, resolve clashes in BIM environments, and provide real‑time support to field teams through cloud‑based collaboration platforms. Prepare and review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs to ensure design intent is maintained throughout construction.

Sustainability & Innovation

Incorporate life‑cycle assessment (LCA) data into material selections, explore performance‑based design methodologies, and contribute to the firm’s research initiatives on carbon‑negative structural solutions.

Requirements

Education & Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state; ability to obtain comity licensure as needed.

Technical Skills

  • Expert proficiency in ETABS, SAP2000, Revit Structure, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong grasp of BIM workflows (Navisworks, BIM 360) and parametric modeling (Dynamo, Grasshopper).
  • Experience with performance‑based seismic design, wind tunnel interpretation, and mass‑timber connection detailing.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive structural engineering experience on commercial or institutional projects valued over $20 M.
  • Proven track record of leading remote project teams and delivering construction documents on schedule.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for virtual stakeholder engagement.

Salary Range

$85,000 – $115,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, licensure status, and geographic differential.

Benefits & Perks

Health & Wellness

Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans; telehealth access; annual wellness stipend.

Professional Development

Annual continuing‑education budget of $3,000; paid PE exam review courses; membership fees for ASCE, SEI, and NCSEA covered.

Work‑Life Flexibility

Fully remote schedule with core collaboration hours (10 am–3 pm ET); generous paid time off, including a “recharge week” after each major project milestone.

Technology & Home Office

Company‑provided high‑performance laptop, dual monitors, ergonomic chair allowance, and stipend for high‑speed internet.
