InnovatePower Solutions is pioneering the next generation of resilient, smart power infrastructure. We are looking for a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer to lead critical design projects and mentor our team from a fully remote home office. If you thrive on solving complex challenges in power distribution, renewable integration, and industrial controls, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact with a flexible, high-trust career.

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 – $150,000 USD/year, commensurate with experience and expertise.

About the Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will own the full lifecycle of sophisticated electrical system designs for utility, industrial, and commercial clients. You will transition from theoretical concepts to detailed, code-compliant construction documents, primarily using AutoCAD Electrical and ETAP. This is a hands-on leadership role where 60% of your time will be dedicated to advanced design work and 40% to technical guidance, quality assurance, and client collaboration. You will report directly to the Director of Engineering and serve as a pivotal technical authority within our distributed team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze medium-voltage (up to 35kV) and low-voltage power distribution systems, including short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, and specifications for substations, panelboards, and motor control centers.
  • Lead design review meetings, provide constructive feedback on junior engineers’ and designers’ work, and ensure adherence to IEEE, NEC, NFPA 70E, and client-specific standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and field engineers to troubleshoot issues and provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Champion continuous improvement by evaluating new design tools, software, and industry methodologies to enhance our team’s efficiency and output quality.

Requirements & Qualifications

We need a proactive engineer with deep technical knowledge and the communication skills to excel in a remote setting. The ideal candidate is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) with a proven track record in power systems.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in any U.S. state is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical power system design, analysis, and project leadership within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) or utility sector.
  • Technical Mastery: Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or similar analysis software. Deep, practical knowledge of the NEC, IEEE 141 (Red Book), 242 (Buff Book), and 399 (Brown Book).
  • Remote Ready: Demonstrated ability to work productively from home, including self-discipline, clear written communication, and proficiency with collaboration tools (MS Teams, Slack, Zoom).

Highly Desired Attributes

  • Experience with renewable energy integration (solar PV, battery storage systems) and microgrid design.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation protocols (Modbus, Profibus) and PLC programming concepts.
  • Prior experience leading a small engineering team or acting as a lead engineer on projects exceeding $2M in construction value.
  • Strong client-facing skills and experience presenting technical designs to non-engineering stakeholders.

What We Offer

We believe great work requires great support. We are committed to the long-term success and well-being of our team members with a comprehensive benefits package designed for a remote lifestyle.

  • Exceptional Compensation: The salary range above, plus a discretionary annual performance bonus based on company and personal goals.
  • Full Health & Wellness: 100% employer-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family. Includes a generous Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution.
  • Future Security: 401(k) plan with a 5% company match, immediate vesting.
  • True Flexibility: A genuine “work-from-anywhere” policy within the United States. Flexible scheduling with core collaboration hours. We provide a home office stipend to optimize your workspace.
  • Growth & Development: $3,000 annual professional development budget for conferences, courses, and certifications. Clear path for advancement to Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager.
  • Time Off: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy, plus 12 paid holidays and 8 paid sick days.
  • Connect & Belong: Annual all-hands retreat in a fun location (fully paid), quarterly virtual team-building, and a culture that values expertise, curiosity, and collaboration.

How to Proceed

If you are a licensed Senior Electrical Engineer looking for a challenging, autonomous, and fully remote role with a growing industry leader, we want to hear from you. Please prepare your application, which should include:

  1. A resume/CV highlighting your relevant project experience and PE license number.
  2. A brief cover letter or statement of interest explaining why this role and our remote-first model are the perfect next step for your career.
  3. Links to or samples of your work (e.g., redacted single-line diagrams, project summaries) are strongly encouraged but not required.
