We’re seeking a proactive Remote Safety Manager to lead occupational health and safety initiatives for a fast‑growing technology firm based in Austin, TX. In this pivotal role, you’ll design and enforce safety programs, conduct risk assessments, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to create a secure, compliant work environment for a distributed workforce. If you’re passionate about preventing incidents and championing a culture of safety from anywhere, this is your chance to make a measurable impact while enjoying the flexibility of remote work.

About the Role

The Remote Safety Manager will serve as the primary authority on workplace safety, ensuring our remote and on‑site operations meet or exceed OSHA, ISO 45001, and other relevant regulatory standards. You’ll report to the Director of Operations and partner closely with HR, Facilities, and department heads to integrate safety into every business process. This position demands strategic thinking, strong communication, and the ability to translate complex safety regulations into actionable guidelines for diverse teams across multiple time zones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive safety policies and procedures tailored for a remote workforce.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections, and incident investigations, driving corrective actions and tracking performance metrics.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and prepare for certifications or inspections.
  • Lead safety training programs, including virtual sessions, e‑learning modules, and on‑site drills, fostering a safety‑first mindset.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as recordable injury rates, near‑miss reporting, and safety audit scores, presenting dashboards to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with procurement and facilities teams to evaluate vendor safety practices and maintain a safe work environment for all contractors.

Requirements

To excel in this Remote Safety Manager position, candidates should possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field; a master’s degree is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive safety experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or lead role.
  • Current CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHSP, or equivalent certification is required.
  • Proven ability to develop and enforce safety programs in technology, manufacturing, or similar fast‑paced environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency with safety management software (e.g., SAP Safety, Vector EHS, or similar) and MS Office Suite.
  • A valid driver’s license and the flexibility to travel to client sites or company campuses as needed (remote work is primary).

Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support your professional and personal well‑being:

  • Competitive salary range of $85,000 – $120,000 USD/year, commensurate with experience.
  • Full health, dental, and vision coverage with HSA options.
  • Generous paid time off, including holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
  • 401(k) plan with company match, and tuition reimbursement for continued education.
  • State‑of‑the‑art home office stipend and flexible remote work policy.
  • Professional development opportunities, certifications, and conference attendance.
