About the Role

We are seeking a talented Remote Mechanical Designer to support the design, development, and documentation of mechanical systems, components, and products. In this work-from-home role, you will create precise 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and design updates that help bring ideas from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and mechanical drawings using industry-standard CAD software.
• Develop product layouts, component designs, fixtures, enclosures, mechanisms, and structural parts.
• Prepare manufacturing-ready drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, notes, and bill of materials.
• Apply GD&T, design for manufacturability, and design for assembly principles.
• Collaborate with engineers to refine concepts, resolve design issues, and improve product performance.
• Review supplier feedback, prototype results, and production concerns to update designs as needed.
• Maintain organized CAD files, revisions, documentation, and design records.
• Support prototyping, testing, and product launch activities from a remote workflow.

Requirements

• Experience as a Mechanical Designer, CAD Designer, Product Designer, or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, CATIA, Fusion 360, or AutoCAD.
• Ability to create accurate 3D models, detailed drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
• Knowledge of mechanical components, materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerancing.
• Familiarity with GD&T, design for manufacturing, and design for assembly.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple design tasks.
• Comfortable working remotely with digital collaboration tools, shared CAD libraries, and virtual meetings.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain design decisions clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in product development, machinery, automation, consumer products, industrial equipment, or electro-mechanical systems.
• Background creating prototypes, production drawings, sheet metal designs, plastic parts, or machined components.
• Familiarity with ERP, PLM, PDM, or revision control systems.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field.
