Join a forward-thinking product development firm as a Remote Mechanical Designer, where your CAD expertise will directly influence the next generation of groundbreaking consumer and industrial products. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your design talent in a fully remote environment, collaborating with a dynamic team to turn concepts into manufacturable realities. If you’re passionate about precision, problem-solving, and seeing your designs come to life, this role is your chance to make a significant impact from anywhere in the U.S.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Designer to join our fully distributed team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models, 2D production drawings, and assembly documentation for a diverse portfolio of client projects. You will work closely with engineers and project managers from the initial concept phase through to design for manufacturing (DFM), ensuring designs are not only innovative but also practical and cost-effective. Your work will span multiple industries, providing constant variety and the chance to tackle new technical challenges regularly.

This is a 100% remote position. You will have the flexibility to design your ideal workday from your home office while staying connected to the team through collaborative digital tools. We prioritize outcomes and creativity over physical presence, trusting you to manage your time and deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop complete 3D CAD models (using SolidWorks or similar) and detailed 2D production drawings.
  • Perform tolerance analysis and design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assembly instructions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and translate them into robust designs.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Mechanical Design, Engineering, or a related field, OR equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Mechanical Designer or in a similar CAD-centric role.
  • Expert proficiency in SolidWorks is required; experience with AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or Inventor is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing processes (injection molding, sheet metal, machining).
  • Proven ability to take a project from conceptual sketch to production-ready documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • U.S. residency and eligibility to work in the United States.

Salary Range

Based on industry standards for this role and level of experience, the annual salary range for this remote position is approximately $55,000 – $85,000 USD, depending on qualifications and demonstrable expertise. This range reflects compensation for a full-time, exempt employee.
