Recent Activity
Join a forward‑thinking engineering team that designs cutting‑edge mechanical systems from concept to production. As a fully remote Mechanical Designer at Apex Engineering Solutions, you’ll collaborate with cross‑functional experts to bring high‑performance products to life while enjoying the freedom to work from anywhere.
About the Role
Apex Engineering Solutions is seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to own the 3D modeling, detailed drafting, and design validation of complex mechanical assemblies. You will work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing partners to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and schedule targets. This position offers the autonomy to drive design decisions on projects ranging from medical devices to aerospace subsystems, all within a supportive, fully distributed team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain parametric 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD platform).
- Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis, finite‑element simulations, and design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews.
- Develop bill‑of‑materials (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve design issues and optimize component selection.
- Participate in design reviews, root‑cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of professional mechanical design experience in a product development setting.
Technical Skills
- Expert proficiency in SolidWorks (or comparable CAD such as Creo, Inventor, or NX).
- Strong grasp of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and experience with tolerance analysis tools.
- Familiarity with FEA software (ANSYS, SimulationXpress, or similar) for structural validation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes: CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing.
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems (Windchill, Teamcenter, or GrabCAD Workbench).
Soft Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication for remote collaboration.
- Self‑motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities across time zones.
- Proactive problem‑solver with a continuous‑learning mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
- Experience in regulated industries (medical, aerospace, automotive) and familiarity with ISO 13485, AS9100, or IATF 16949.
- Programming or scripting ability (Python, MATLAB) for design automation.
Salary Range
$78,000 – $102,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience and geographic cost‑of‑living adjustments.
Benefits & Perks
- 100 % remote work – choose your ideal workspace.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage (company pays 90 %).
- 401(k) with 4 % employer match.
- Annual professional development stipend ($2,500) for courses, certifications, or conferences.
- Flexible PTO policy plus 10 paid holidays.
- Home office setup allowance ($1,200 one‑time) and monthly internet reimbursement.
- Quarterly virtual team‑building events and an annual in‑person retreat (travel covered).
