Are you passionate about turning concepts into precise, manufacturable designs? This fully remote Mechanical Designer role lets you collaborate with a dynamic engineering team from anywhere, contributing to cutting‑edge products that shape industries. Enjoy the flexibility of working from home while making a tangible impact on projects that matter.

About the Role

As a Remote Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical documentation for a variety of mechanical components and assemblies. You will work closely with product engineers, manufacturing specialists, and quality teams to ensure designs meet functional, cost, and manufacturability targets. The position is ideal for a self‑motivated designer who thrives in a collaborative, virtual environment and is eager to continuously improve design processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop parametric 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent).
  • Perform tolerance analysis, GD&T application, and design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews.
  • Generate bills of materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and engineering change orders.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve design issues and support prototype testing.
  • Maintain design libraries, standards, and documentation in accordance with company PLM procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and proposing alternative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer or similar role in a product development environment.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or Creo, Inventor, Fusion 360) with strong GD&T knowledge.
  • Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill, Arena) and version control practices.
  • Solid understanding of machining, sheet metal, fastening, and assembly processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to articulate design intent clearly in written and verbal formats.
  • Self‑disciplined, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of simulation tools (FEA, CFD) for design validation.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing or rapid prototyping techniques.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME Y14.5, ISO 9001, or IPC‑A‑610.
  • Background in consumer electronics, medical devices, or industrial equipment is a plus.

Salary Range

Based on industry standards for remote Mechanical Designer positions in the United States, the expected compensation is $55,000 – $80,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Benefits

  • Fully remote work – design your ideal home office setup.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with company matching.
  • Generous paid time off and company holidays.
  • Professional development stipend for certifications, courses, and conferences.
  • Quarterly wellness stipend and ergonomic equipment allowance.
  • Collaborative virtual team culture with regular video check‑ins and virtual team‑building events.

How to Succeed

Successful candidates will demonstrate a keen eye for detail, a passion for iterative design improvement, and the ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Embracing the remote work mindset—proactive communication, disciplined time management, and a results‑oriented approach—will enable you to thrive and grow within our innovative engineering organization.
