About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our growing remote engineering department. In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed mechanical designs, developing 3D models, and producing comprehensive engineering drawings for our innovative product lines. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet both technical specifications and business objectives.

Your primary responsibilities will include utilizing advanced CAD software to develop complex assemblies, performing design analysis and simulations, creating bill of materials documentation, and supporting manufacturing processes. You’ll participate in design reviews, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and help optimize product performance while maintaining cost-effectiveness and manufacturability standards.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software
• Develop complex mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies for various product applications
• Perform design validation through FEA analysis and other simulation tools
• Generate comprehensive engineering documentation including BOMs and specifications

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with engineering teams to refine designs based on feedback
• Coordinate with manufacturing partners to ensure design for manufacturability
• Participate in virtual design reviews and technical meetings
• Maintain clear communication with stakeholders throughout project lifecycle

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in mechanical design roles
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials selection
• Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with FEA/Simulation software (ANSYS, Abaqus)
• Knowledge of industry standards (ASME, ISO)
• Project management experience or PDM/PLM software familiarity
• Background in aerospace, automotive, or industrial equipment sectors
