We are seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to join our fully remote engineering team, where you will create cutting‑edge product concepts that drive sustainability and performance. This role offers the freedom to work from anywhere while collaborating with cross‑functional experts across the globe. If you thrive on turning ideas into detailed designs that make a real impact, keep reading.

About the Role

As a Remote Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for developing 3D models, producing detailed drawings, and supporting the product development lifecycle from concept through prototype. You will work closely with mechanical engineers, industrial designers, and manufacturing partners to ensure designs are functional, manufacturable, and aligned with our sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create parametric 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Inventor).
  • Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection to meet performance criteria.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to refine concepts and integrate feedback.
  • Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support prototyping and testing activities.
  • Maintain design documentation in accordance with company standards and PLM systems.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable design practices.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Mechanical Designer or similar role.
  • Proven track record of delivering designs from concept to production.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks (preferred) or comparable CAD platforms.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal).
  • Experience with simulation tools (FEA, CFD) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill) and version control.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a remote setting.
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $55,000 – $75,000 USD per year (based on experience).
  • Fully remote work – design your own schedule and workspace.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Generous paid time off and company holidays.
  • Annual stipend for home office setup and professional development.
  • Access to cutting‑edge CAD licenses and cloud‑based collaboration tools.
  • Opportunities to work on innovative, sustainability‑focused projects.

What You’ll Build

In this role, you will contribute to the development of next‑generation eco‑friendly consumer products, including modular housing components, energy‑efficient appliances, and lightweight transportation solutions. Your designs will help reduce material waste, improve product lifespan, and enable easier recycling at end‑of‑life. By integrating generative design techniques and sustainable material selections, you will directly influence the environmental impact of our product portfolio.
