Join a forward-thinking company as a remote Maintenance Person, where your handyman skills and technical intuition keep critical facilities running smoothly from anywhere. You’ll be the first line of defense against equipment failure, using a blend of remote guidance, scheduling, and deep expertise to troubleshoot, coordinate repairs, and ensure a safe, functional environment for our distributed team.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $48,000 – $72,000 USD/year, commensurate with your experience and certifications. This full-time remote position includes a comprehensive benefits package featuring health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, generous paid time off, and a professional development stipend to advance your skills.

About the Role

As a Remote Maintenance Person, you are the operational backbone of our company’s physical infrastructure. While you won’t be on-site daily, you will manage a portfolio of minor repair and maintenance tasks across our company-owned properties and remote employee home offices. Using video conferencing, detailed digital work orders, and a network of pre-vetted local contractors, you will diagnose issues, provide clear instructions, and oversee resolutions. Your proactive approach to preventive maintenance will minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of our assets, directly contributing to employee satisfaction and operational continuity.

Core Responsibilities

  • Receive and triage maintenance requests via our centralized CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Conduct video call assessments with on-site personnel to diagnose issues (e.g., plumbing leaks, electrical faults, HVAC concerns, hardware installations).
  • Develop clear, step-by-step repair instructions for simple fixes or create detailed scopes of work for contractor bids.
  • Manage relationships with a national network of licensed contractors for complex repairs, negotiating rates and ensuring quality.
  • Schedule and coordinate all maintenance activities, minimizing disruption.
  • Maintain a digital inventory of common parts and supplies for remote shipment.
  • Track all work in the CMMS, including time, costs, and parts used for reporting and budgeting.
  • Proactively identify recurring issues and recommend systemic improvements or preventive maintenance schedules.

What We’re Looking For

We need a resourceful, communicative, and tech-savvy problem-solver who thrives in a remote setting. You are as comfortable reading a wiring diagram as you are explaining a repair over a video call.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in general maintenance, facilities, or a related trade (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry).
  • Proven ability to diagnose a wide range of repair issues remotely using visual cues and questioning.
  • Expert-level proficiency with common hand and power tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems: HVAC basics, electrical (110/220V), plumbing, and door/window hardware.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—for clear instruction and contractor management.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined with exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated, quiet workspace for video conferencing.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. and handle physical tasks when coordinating local help.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Certifications such as EPA 608 (HVAC), OSHA 10/30, or a relevant trade license.
  • Experience with specific CMMS platforms (e.g., Fiix, Hippo, UpKeep).
  • Basic project management experience.
  • Familiarity with smart home technology and office equipment networks.
