About the Role
As a Health IT Specialist, you will be the bridge between clinical workflows and cutting‑edge technology. You’ll collaborate with physicians, nurses, compliance officers, and software engineers to ensure electronic health record (EHR) platforms, telehealth tools, and data‑analytics pipelines run smoothly, securely, and in full regulatory compliance. Security & Compliance
Maintain HIPAA, HITECH, and state‑level privacy standards. Perform risk assessments, manage access controls, and coordinate audit responses with the compliance team.
Data Integrity & Analytics
Design data‑quality dashboards, automate ETL processes, and partner with data scientists to surface actionable insights for population health management.
Stakeholder Enablement
Deliver training sessions, create documentation, and provide tier‑2 support for clinical end‑users. Translate technical concepts into clear guidance for non‑technical staff.
Requirements
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with major EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or similar)
- Strong command of HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, CDA, and CCD standards
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Scripting expertise in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation
- Database fluency in SQL (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL (MongoDB) for clinical data stores
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 4 years hands‑on health IT experience, with at least 2 years in a remote or distributed team environment
- Certifications such as CPHIMS, RHIA, or Epic/Cerner module credentials are a plus
- Demonstrated success leading cross‑functional projects from requirements gathering through go‑live and post‑implementation support
Salary Range
$85,000 – $115,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, certifications, and geographic cost‑of‑living adjustments.
Benefits & Perks
- 100 % remote work with a generous home‑office stipend
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans (including telehealth options)
- 401(k) match up to 5 % and profit‑sharing

Team members are encouraged to experiment, share knowledge in weekly tech talks, and contribute to open‑source health‑IT projects. Diversity of thought and background is not just welcomed—it’s essential to building solutions that serve every community.
How to Succeed in This Role
Success hinges on your ability to translate clinical needs into reliable, scalable technology while maintaining an unwavering focus on patient privacy.
