About the Role

As a Health IT Specialist, you’ll be at the intersection of healthcare and technology, ensuring that electronic health records (EHR), health information exchanges (HIE), and clinical systems operate at peak performance. You’ll serve as the vital link between clinical staff and IT departments, translating complex technical requirements into user-friendly solutions that enhance patient care delivery.

What You’ll Do

• Implement and configure electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech across healthcare facilities
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for health information systems, resolving issues promptly to minimize workflow disruptions
• Conduct system testing, training, and go-live support for new implementations and upgrades
• Analyze clinical workflows and recommend process improvements through technology optimization
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Meaningful Use, and other healthcare regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including physicians, nurses, IT developers, and administrative staff
• Develop and maintain system documentation, user guides, and training materials
• Monitor system performance and implement preventive maintenance protocols

Requirements

Technical Skills

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in Health IT or healthcare information systems
• Strong understanding of EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, or equivalent)
• Proficiency in healthcare data standards including HL7, FHIR, and ICD-10
• Experience with system integration, interface engines, and health information exchanges
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security requirements
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or related field (equivalent experience considered)
• Relevant certifications such as CAHIMS, CPHIMS, or vendor-specific EHR certifications preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
• Project management experience with the ability to handle multiple priorities

Salary Range
