About the Role

As a Remote Fire Engineer, you will lead the development of fire protection strategies that meet NFPA, ICC, and local jurisdiction requirements. You will perform fire modeling, hydraulic calculations, and performance‑based design reviews for new construction and retrofit projects. Your work directly influences building safety, insurance ratings, and regulatory approvals, making a tangible difference in protecting lives and property.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct fire risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for diverse building types.
• Prepare and review fire protection drawings, specifications, and calculation packages.
• Run computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and zone models to simulate smoke movement and heat transfer.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and MEP teams to integrate fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems.
• Support permitting processes by liaising with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and third‑party reviewers.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of evolving codes (NFPA 13, 72, 101, IBC, local amendments) and industry best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex fire safety challenges.

Requirements

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state (or ability to obtain reciprocity).
• NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or equivalent credential preferred.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with fire modeling software (FDS, CFAST, PyroSim, or similar).
• Strong command of hydraulic calculation tools (HydroCAD, SprinkCAD, or proprietary spreadsheets).

Experience

Salary Range
