About the Role

As a Remote Fire Engineer, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers, architects, and safety consultants to develop fire protection strategies for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct fire dynamics simulations using CFD and zone modeling software (e.g., FDS, PyroSim).
• Prepare detailed fire protection reports, including hydraulic calculations, egress analysis, and smoke control designs.

• Coordinate with fire authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to secure permits and approvals.
• Provide technical support during construction phases, including site inspections and testing of fire protection systems.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in fire protection design, code consulting, or fire safety engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain licensure within 12 months is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong grasp of NFPA codes (e.g., NFPA 13, 14, 20, 72, 101) and International Building Code (IBC).
• Experience with fire modeling tools (FDS, PyroSim, CFAST) and hydraulic calculation software (HASS, Elite Fire).
• Familiarity with BIM platforms (Revit, Navisworks) for clash detection and coordination.
• Solid understanding of sprinkler systems, fire alarms, smoke control, and passive fire protection.
