About the Role

As a Remote Fire Engineer, you will be responsible for developing fire safety strategies, performing hazard analyses, and ensuring compliance with national and international fire codes. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers through virtual collaboration tools to deliver reliable fire protection solutions that safeguard lives and property. The role demands strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects independently.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Analysis

Create detailed fire protection system designs, including sprinkler, alarm, and suppression systems, using industry‑standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation tools.

Code Compliance

Interpret and apply NFPA, IBC, and local fire regulations to ensure all designs meet legal and safety requirements.

Risk Assessment

Conduct fire hazard analyses, perform egress modeling, and provide recommendations to mitigate identified risks.

Collaboration and Documentation

Participate in virtual design reviews, prepare technical reports, and maintain clear documentation for clients and regulatory bodies.

Project Support

Provide on‑call technical support during construction and commissioning phases, coordinating with contractors to resolve fire safety issues promptly.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in fire protection design or fire safety consulting.

Technical Skills

Proficiency with fire modeling software (e.g., FDS, CFAST), hydraulic calculation programs, and BIM tools. Strong understanding of fire dynamics, suppression systems, and alarm technologies.

Certifications

PE license or EIT/FE certification is preferred. Additional credentials such as CFPS or NICET Level III/IV in fire protection are a plus.

Soft Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication for remote teamwork. Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and deliver high‑quality work under minimal supervision.

Salary range: $78,000 – $102,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience and certifications.
