About the Role

Our Remote Fire Engineer will lead multidisciplinary projects, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and client expectations. You’ll be the technical voice in design reviews, system selection, and performance testing, while maintaining a strong virtual presence with on‑site teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed fire protection designs for HVAC, sprinkler, fire alarm, and suppression systems.
• Conduct hazard analyses, risk assessments, and fire model simulations using advanced software.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and code officials to resolve design conflicts.
• Lead virtual site inspections, ensuring installations meet design intent and code requirements.
• Produce technical reports, cost estimates, and value‑engineering recommendations.
• Stay current with evolving fire safety codes, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fire protection design and project management.
• BLEED‑ER or Certified Fire Protection Engineer (CFPE) designation preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and fire modeling tools such asSanctuary or Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS).
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 72, NFPA 101, and local fire codes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex concepts clearly.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple projects remotely.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection.
• Knowledge of green building standards (LEED, WELL) and passive fire protection.
• Prior remote work experience in a distributed engineering team.
• Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2).
