Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scope using industry‑standard software such as Sage Estimating, Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, or ProEst.
• Perform precise quantity takeoffs from architectural, structural, and MEP drawings, targeting an accuracy margin of within 2% of final construction costs.
• Analyze historical cost data, regional market trends, and vendor pricing to adjust unit rates and productivity factors for each bid.
• Engage with project managers, designers, and suppliers early in the design phase to clarify scope, identify potential risks, and recommend value‑engineering alternatives.
• Develop clear bid summaries, risk registers, and cost‑benefit analyses that support senior leadership in go/no‑go decisions.
• Maintain and continuously update a centralized cost database, including vendor quotes, historical project data, and regional cost indices.
• Support the estimating team during peak bidding periods, mentor junior estimators, and contribute to the refinement of estimating procedures and templates.
• Participate in weekly virtual estimating meetings, providing updates on bid progress, challenges, and opportunities for process improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
• Minimum of three (3) years of hands‑on experience as a construction estimator, preferably on commercial, institutional, or mixed‑use projects.
• Proficiency with leading estimating platforms (Sage Estimating, ProEst, Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data validation).
• Solid understanding of construction methods, material specifications, labor productivity rates, and equipment costs.
• Exceptional analytical abilities with a meticulous eye for detail; capable of identifying cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
• Strong communication skills: able to present complex cost data clearly to both technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
• Self‑motivated and disciplined, with a proven track record of managing multiple deadlines in a remote work environment.
• Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the ability to extract quantities from 3D models is a valuable plus.
• Certification such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or ASPE‑Estimating Professional is advantageous but not required.
