Remote Estimator – Drive Accurate Project Budgets & Win More Bids

About the Role

As a Remote Estimator, you will be the financial backbone of our pre‑construction process. You will interpret project plans, specifications, and scopes of work to develop accurate cost estimates that win bids and protect margins. Working from your home office, you’ll leverage industry‑standard estimating software and collaborate with architects, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure every number is realistic and competitive.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
• Analyze historical data, vendor quotes, and market trends to forecast material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Prepare bid packages, including cost breakdowns, risk assessments, and value‑engineering recommendations.
• Participate in bid reviews and client presentations, clearly communicating assumptions and potential variances.
• Maintain estimating databases and cost libraries, ensuring they reflect current pricing and regional variations.
• Assist project managers during the transition from pre‑construction to execution by providing cost‑control support.
• Stay current with industry standards, building codes, and emerging construction technologies that impact estimating.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3 years of experience as an Estimator, Cost Engineer, or similar role in construction or engineering.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Sage Estimating, ProEst, Bluebeam, or PlanSwift.
• Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Excellent communication skills; capable of presenting technical information to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑focused, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a remote work environment.
• Reliable high‑speed internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Cost Professional (CCP) designation.
• Experience with BIM‑based estimating tools (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Navisworks).

• Background in specialty trades such as electrical, mechanical, or concrete work.
