Are you an innovative Electrical Designer who thrives on turning complex concepts into clear, build‑ready drawings? Our fast‑growing engineering firm is expanding its virtual design studio and needs a detail‑orientated professional who can deliver high‑quality schematics, panel layouts, and 3‑D models for commercial and industrial projects—all from a home office.

Salary Range

USD $55,000 – $75,000 per year (commensurate with experience, certifications and portfolio quality). Bonus potential and profit‑sharing opportunities are also available.

About the Role

As a Remote Electrical Designer, you will be the bridge between our project managers, field engineers and clients. You’ll translate project specifications into detailed electrical designs, ensuring compliance with NEC, IEC and local codes. Your work will directly influence the safety, efficiency and cost‑effectiveness of every build.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create single‑line diagrams, wiring schematics, conduit and cable routing plans using AutoCAD, Revit MEP or SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Develop 3‑D BIM models that integrate with mechanical, plumbing and structural disciplines.
  • Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis and short‑circuit studies to validate designs.
  • Collaborate virtually with project managers, architects and contractors via Zoom, Teams and Slack.
  • Review and incorporate client feedback, ensuring all revisions meet deadline and quality standards.
  • Maintain an organized digital library of design standards, component libraries and project documentation.
  • Support field teams with shop drawings, as‑built documentation and troubleshooting during construction.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience creating electrical design packages for commercial or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, or SolidWorks Electrical; familiarity with Navisworks and BIM 360 is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of NEC 2023, IEC 60364, and relevant local codes.
  • Excellent analytical skills for load calculations, arc‑flash studies and coordination reports.
  • Self‑motivated, organized and capable of managing multiple remote projects simultaneously.
  • Reliable high‑speed internet connection (minimum 25 Mbps download/upload) and a dedicated home office setup.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Electrical Designer (ED) certification.
  • Experience with renewable energy systems, EV charging infrastructure, or data‑center power design.
  • Knowledge of energy‑efficiency standards such as ASHRAE 90.1 or LEED certification requirements.

Benefits

  • 100% remote – work from any U.S. location with a stable internet connection.
  • Flexible schedule: choose core hours (10 am–3 pm EST) and manage the rest around your life.
  • Comprehensive health, dental and vision plans, including HSA/FSA options.
  • Company‑matched 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Annual professional development stipend for courses, certifications or conferences.
  • Tech allowance: laptop, dual monitors, ergonomic chair and home‑office accessories.
  • Generous paid time off (vacation, sick, holidays) and a mental‑health day each quarter.
  • Performance‑based bonuses and profit‑sharing in a growing, profitable firm.

Why Join Our Remote Team?

We believe that great design doesn’t need a physical office. Our virtual studio is built on trust, clear communication and cutting‑edge collaboration tools. You’ll have direct access to senior engineers, client decision‑makers and a supportive community that celebrates innovation. With a focus on work–life balance, continuous learning and transparent career paths, you’ll grow your expertise while enjoying the freedom of a true work‑from‑home environment.

How to Stand Out

When you apply, include a concise portfolio showcasing at least three recent electrical design projects (PDF or interactive BIM links). Highlight any cost‑saving measures, code‑challenge solutions, or sustainability achievements. A brief video (60‑90 seconds) introducing yourself and explaining your design philosophy can give you an edge.

Next Steps

If you’re ready to shape the future of electrical design from the comfort of your home office, review the qualifications above and prepare your portfolio. Our hiring team will review submissions on a rolling basis and schedule virtual interviews with the lead design manager.
