About the Role

As a Remote Datacenter Technician, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support for complex data center infrastructure systems through remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities. Your primary duties will include analyzing system performance metrics, identifying potential issues before they impact operations, and implementing proactive solutions to maintain optimal uptime. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including network engineers, system administrators, and security specialists to ensure comprehensive infrastructure health and security compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain data center hardware including servers, storage arrays, and networking equipment
• Perform remote diagnostics and troubleshooting for hardware failures and performance degradation
• Execute firmware updates, patch management, and configuration changes during scheduled maintenance windows
• Document all technical procedures, incident reports, and resolution steps in detail
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation to provide emergency support when required
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for equipment procurement and warranty claims
• Conduct regular capacity planning and performance optimization initiatives
• Maintain security protocols and compliance standards for all infrastructure components

Requirements

To succeed in this remote datacenter technician role, candidates should possess a strong foundation in IT infrastructure management combined with excellent problem-solving abilities and clear communication skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working in enterprise data center environments with exposure to multiple vendors and technologies. A valid CompTIA A+ certification is preferred along with additional industry credentials such as Network+, Security+, or vendor-specific certifications.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations or IT infrastructure support
• Strong knowledge of server hardware including Dell, HP, IBM, and Cisco UCS platforms
• Proficiency with remote management tools such as IPMI, iDRAC, iLO, and SSH
• Understanding of RAID configurations, storage area networks, and backup systems
• Experience with ticketing systems and incident management processes
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and quality assurance mindset
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote environment

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $55,000 – $75,000 USD/year
