About the Role

As a Remote Datacenter Technician you will be the first line of defense for server health, network connectivity, and environmental controls across multiple colocation facilities. You’ll collaborate with site‑operations teams, leverage remote‑management platforms (IPMI, iDRAC, Redfish), and execute scripted remediation workflows to minimize downtime. The position offers a clear path to senior infrastructure engineering and cloud operations leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor server health, power, cooling, and network metrics via centralized dashboards.
• Perform remote firmware upgrades, BIOS configurations, and RAID rebuilds using out‑of‑band management.
• Coordinate on‑site smart‑hand dispatches for hardware replacements, cable management, and rack installations.
• Develop and maintain runbooks, Ansible playbooks, and PowerShell scripts for automated remediation.
• Participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation with escalation paths to NOC and engineering teams.
• Document asset lifecycle events in CMDB (ServiceNow) and ensure compliance with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 controls.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience in a data‑center or enterprise server environment.
• Proficiency with Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) and Windows Server administration.
• Deep knowledge of IPMI, iDRAC, iLO, Redfish APIs, and remote KVM solutions.
• Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Ansible, Terraform) and scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (VLAN, BGP, DNS, load balancing).
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting with reliable high‑speed internet and a dedicated workspace.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications: CompTIA Server+, CCNA, or vendor‑specific (Dell EMC, HPE, Cisco).
• Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and bare‑metal provisioning (MAAS, Tinkerbell).
• Prior experience managing multi‑region colocation contracts and vendor SLAs.

Salary Range

$55,000 – $78,000 USD per year (commensurate with experience, certifications, and geographic differential).
