About the Role

We are looking for a hands‑on technologist who thrives on physical‑layer challenges and enjoys translating complex hardware issues into clear, actionable tickets. You will collaborate with network engineers, capacity planners, and site reliability engineers to ensure maximum uptime for our multi‑cloud platform. This position is fully remote; occasional travel to a regional data‑center hub (up to 4 times per year) is required for hardware installations and audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rack‑and‑stack, cable management, and power distribution for new server deployments.
• Execute hardware diagnostics, component replacements (CPU, RAM, SSD, NIC, PSU), and firmware upgrades.
• Monitor environmental sensors (temperature, humidity, airflow) and respond to alerts within SLA.
• Document all changes in the CMDB, maintain accurate asset inventories, and update run‑books.
• Coordinate with vendors for RMA processing, warranty claims, and on‑site spare‑parts logistics.
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation (one week per month) with escalation paths to senior engineers.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on data‑center or server‑room experience in a production environment.
• Proficiency with Linux command line, IPMI/iDRAC/iLO, and basic scripting (Bash/Python).
• Strong understanding of rack power (PDU, UPS), cooling strategies, and cable‑labeling standards.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, work in confined spaces, and follow strict ESD safety procedures.
• Excellent written communication for ticket documentation and cross‑team handoffs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA Data Center, or vendor‑specific (Dell EMC, HPE, Cisco UCS).
• Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Ansible, Terraform) for hardware provisioning.
• Familiarity with monitoring platforms (Prometheus, Datadog, Nagios) and log aggregation (ELK, Splunk).

Salary Range

$45,000 – $70,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, certifications, and geographic cost‑of‑living adjustments.
