You won’t be racking servers manually; instead, you will utilize advanced remote management tools, IPMI, and KVM-over-IP technologies to diagnose hardware failures, coordinate with on-site hands-and-eyes teams, and ensure 99.99% uptime.

This is a high-impact position designed for a technical expert who thrives on solving complex connectivity issues and optimizing server health. You will be responsible for the lifecycle management of our hardware, from provisioning new nodes via automated scripts to decommissioning legacy systems, all while maintaining strict security protocols and operational efficiency.

Salary Range

$65,000 – $95,000 USD/year (Depending on experience and certifications)

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Monitoring & Maintenance

• Monitor system health alerts using Zabbix, Prometheus, or SolarWinds to proactively identify hardware degradation.
• Coordinate remote power cycles, BIOS updates, and firmware patches across a distributed fleet of servers.
• Manage remote console access to troubleshoot OS boot issues and network configuration errors.

Vendor & On-Site Coordination

• Act as the primary point of contact for on-site technicians, providing precise instructions for physical component replacements (RAM, HDD, NICs).
• Audit rack layouts and cable management via remote documentation tools to ensure optimal airflow and efficiency.
• Manage hardware RMA processes and track equipment shipments to ensure minimal downtime during replacements.

Network & Security Oversight

• Collaborate with Network Engineers to troubleshoot VLAN tagging and port configurations.
• Ensure all remote access points adhere to strict SOC2 and ISO 27001 security compliance standards.
• Document all incidents and resolutions in the internal knowledge base to streamline future troubleshooting.

Requirements

Technical Qualifications

• Experience: 3+ years of experience in datacenter operations, systems administration, or a similar technical role.
• Tooling: Proficiency with remote management tools (iDRAC, ILO, IPMI) and Linux command-line interfaces.
• Networking: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and the OSI model.
