Join a world-class engineering team as a Remote Datacenter Technician, where you will oversee critical server health and network stability from the comfort of your home. If you are a hardware enthusiast with a passion for uptime and scalability, this is your chance to manage high-performance environments for a global leader in cloud computing.

About the Role

As a Remote Datacenter Technician, you will serve as the primary guardian of our physical and virtual infrastructure. While the servers reside in our state-of-the-art facilities, your role is to orchestrate the deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of these assets remotely. You will bridge the gap between high-level network architecture and physical hardware execution, ensuring that our clients experience zero latency and maximum reliability.

This is not a typical support role; it is a mission-critical position. You will be responsible for diagnosing complex hardware failures, managing remote hands for physical swaps, and optimizing power and cooling efficiency through advanced telemetry tools. You will work closely with Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to ensure that our global footprint remains resilient against any failure.

Salary Range

$65,000 – $92,000 USD/year (Depending on experience and certifications)

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Orchestration

  • Monitor server health and network performance using enterprise-grade monitoring tools to preemptively identify hardware degradation.
  • Coordinate “Remote Hands” technicians for physical installations, cabling, and component replacements within the facility.
  • Manage the lifecycle of server hardware, from initial provisioning and OS installation to decommissioning and secure data destruction.

Technical Troubleshooting

  • Perform deep-dive diagnostics on server crashes, kernel panics, and network connectivity issues.
  • Execute remote firmware updates and BIOS configurations across thousands of nodes simultaneously.
  • Analyze power consumption and thermal maps to optimize rack placement and energy efficiency.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Maintain meticulous records of asset movements and configuration changes in the DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) system.
  • Ensure all remote operations adhere to strict SOC2 and ISO 27001 security standards.

Requirements

Technical Expertise

  • Proven experience with x86 server architecture (Dell, HP, or Supermicro) and high-speed networking gear (Cisco, Juniper).
  • Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and the ability to navigate the command line with ease.
  • Experience with IPMI, iDRAC, or ILO for out-of-band management.
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, and BGP routing.

Professional Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CCNA, or BICSI are highly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority tickets in a fast-paced, asynchronous environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively guide on-site staff through complex technical procedures.

Perks and Benefits

Work-Life Integration

We believe in a results-oriented work environment. As a 100% remote employee, you have the flexibility to design your workspace and schedule, provided the infrastructure remains stable. We provide a generous home-office stipend to ensure you have the ergonomic equipment and high-speed connectivity needed to succeed.
