About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to oversee testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and final acceptance for commercial, healthcare, education, or infrastructure projects. Reporting to senior project leadership, you will coordinate contractors, engineers, facility teams, and owners while maintaining strict quality, schedule, and safety standards.

This is a 100% remote work-from-home position. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically confident, and comfortable leading cross-functional teams through virtual collaboration and on-site project activities when required.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and manage project commissioning plans, schedules, responsibility matrices, and acceptance criteria.
• Direct functional performance testing, subsystem testing, integrated systems testing, and corrective-action follow-up.
• Review design documents, submittals, equipment data, and technical requirements for commissioning readiness.
• Lead commissioning meetings, site inspections, issue resolution sessions, and stakeholder reporting.
• Ensure testing complies with codes, standards, owner project requirements, and contractual obligations.
• Approve commissioning documentation, deficiency logs, training records, warranties, and final turnover packages.
• Mentor commissioning technicians and coordinate effectively with project managers, consultants, and trade partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, building services, or a related field.
• Eight or more years of experience in commissioning, building systems, or project delivery.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and building automation systems.
• Proven experience managing commissioning from pre-design through closeout and owner handover.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites as the role requires, including occasional multi-site assignments.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Candidates should be decisive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing competing priorities across multiple projects. Experience with commissioned-building standards, energy-efficient systems, and digital project-management platforms is highly desirable. Certification as a Building Commissioning Professional or equivalent credential will be viewed positively.

Salary Range

$95,000–$145,000 USD per year, depending on experience, qualifications, project scope, and geographic market. Compensation may also include performance incentives, professional-development support, and an annual equipment allowance.
